Healthy green juices are a great way to keep yourself fit and to feel good. Green juices are made with healthy and nutritious fruits and vegetables that have the ability to flush out toxins from our body. If you don't like the taste of vegetables, then use fruits like apple, orange, and kiwi that will help to mask the bitter taste of veggies so the juices are both healthy and delicious at the same time. I wasn't much of a fan of green juices until I tried them and from that point on, I was hooked.
All the green juice recipes are made with ingredients that are packed with nutrients and they are also allergen-free (substances that can cause an allergic reaction). But, if you're allergic to, for example, apples (very rare), don't use the recipes with it or substitute it with some other fruit that you like and aren't allergic to.
Lemon Kale Juice
Packed with nutritious fruits and veggies like apple, kale, lemon, ginger, and cucumber, this juice is the perfect way to start your day or when your stomach hurts. It's healthy and also delicious because of the granny smith apples used in it. You can use any variety but granny smith tastes great with it.
Ingredients
-
1 big lemon, peeled and diced
-
1 big cucumber – sliced into strips
-
4 celery stalks, chopped
-
1 bunch Kale, slightly chopped
-
2 big apples, pitted and diced
-
1 inch or 2.5 cm ginger, peeled and chopped
Method
-
Rinse the veggies and apples and cut them.
-
Add kale (you can use plain kale or curly kale) into a juicer and blitz once. Then add in lemon, ginger, cucumber, apples, and celery sticks and blend after adding each ingredient.
-
Blend until the veggies and fruits are completely blended. If you don't want to drink the pulp, you should strain the mixture through a sieve or put a mesh strainer on top of a medium bowl and place a cheesecloth over it.
-
Pour the blended mixture into the cheesecloth and then take its edges into your hands and wrap the cloth around the juice mixture. Squeeze to filter all the juice into the bowl.
-
Serve immediately or place in the fridge for a while and enjoy it!
Lemon and apple reduce the strong flavor of kale while the cucumber provides the juice with much-needed water content. This green juice will keep you hydrated and energized throughout the day.
